Dr. Kristin Person received her Honours Bachelor of Science before graduating with her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo. During her studies, Dr. Person completed an externship in ocular disease and therapeutics at The Eye Foundation of Utah in Salt Lake City. While there she participated in advanced aspects of therapeutic eye care, including Cataract, Glaucoma, Retinal and Extra-ocular muscle surgeries and management. She also completed two externships in primary care. In 2009 she was honoured with the Dr. W. Ross Andrews Prize for Clinical Proficiency and was presented with the O.S.I. Award for Excellence in Practice Management in "recognition of demonstrated leadership in the areas of professionalism and communication skills." Through volunteer medical eye care missions, Dr. Person has donated her time to provide eye care to underprivileged locals in developing countries including Zihuatanejo, Mexico and Piribebuy, Paraguay. Dr. Person is a member of the Hamilton and District Society of Optometrists, Canadian Association of Optometrists, The Ontario Association of Optometrists, and the College of Optometrists of Ontario. Dr. Person practices full-scope optometry and enjoys the one-on-one relationship between doctor and patient in our practice setting. When away from the office she enjoys travelling and spending time with her husband Dr. Patrick Hector and their two children.
