Eyes on the Harbour

Dr. Philip Seitz’s passion for Eye Care began while living in South Africa. After receiving much needed treatment and care for his own eyes by a travelling group of Eye Doctors, he was given the opportunity to join and help translate for a team of optometrists providing eye care to some of the remote communities in South Africa. After coming home and having his own sister experience vision loss, that passion became personal and strengthened his commitment to helping patients protect and optimize their vision. Dr. Seitz began his undergraduate studies in Calgary and later moved to Southern California to complete his Doctorate.

Dr. Seitz provides comprehensive eye care for patients of all ages, with expertise in advanced ocular disease, dry eye management, specialty contact lenses and visual therapy. He uses some of the most advanced diagnostic imaging and testing available to detect, monitor, and manage eye disease. He also develops custom soft and rigid contact lenses, including multifocal and scleral lenses, for patients with complex visual needs and specific ocular conditions.

A unique area of Dr. Seitz’s practice is virtual reality. He tests and consults on VR hardware and software, applying his expertise in optics, binocular vision, and visual perception to help improve the visual experience in immersive technology. Within our clinic we use virtual reality to perform some of our testing.

Above all, Dr. Seitz believes that excellent eye care should be both highly clinical and highly personal. He loves to educate his patients, explain what is happening with their eyes, and work with them to find solutions that fit their individual needs and lifestyle. Dr. Seitz welcomes patients of all ages and will help you take your eye health and vision to the next level!

He was awarded the Bausch and Lomb Clinical Excellence in Contact Lenses Award for his graduating year. He received his Certification for Ocular Therapeutics from the Oklahoma College of Optometry. He moved back home to Comox and opened his office on Comox Avenue September 6, 1987. He maintains a membership with the British Columbia Association of Optometrists, the American Optometric Association and the North American Honours fraternity, Beta Sigma Kappa.
