City View Optometry

Dr. Ladage has been an optometrist since 1995 when he obtained his Bachelor of Optometry at the Hogeschool van Utrecht, the Netherlands. He continued his studies at the University of Houston, Texas, USA where he received a PhD in Vision Science (2002) and a Doctor of Optometry degree (Summa cum laude, 2006). 

His externships included training with corneal and retinal specialists. As a researcher, Dr. Ladage has published 29 articles and participated in three FDA clinical trials on overnight contact lens wear at UT Southwestern medical center in Dallas, Texas. He has won several awards including the prestigious American Optometric Foundation’s William Ezell fellowship (2001 and 2002), “Excellence in graduate teaching” award (1998) and “Outstanding graduate student” award (1999) at the University of Houston College of Optometry. He was on the editorial board of Contact lens and the Eye from 2002-2007 and has been reviewer for several peer reviewed journals: Optometry and Vision Science, Cornea and Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Science. He was a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry from 2001 to 2012.

Dr. Ladage is a member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists, the Ontario Association of Optometrists and the Ottawa Society of Optometrists. He has been in private practice in North-America since 2006. Dr. Ladage provides services in English and Dutch.

Besides having a passion for optometry, Dr. Ladage enjoys spending time outdoors and traveling with his two sons and wife, cycling and exercising, gardening and reading.

Dr. Soucy, formerly Dr. Micucci, completed a Bachelor of Science from the University of Ottawa in 2007 and graduated on the Dean’s Honours List from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry in 2011. In 2014, Dr. Soucy was awarded Fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry. She was a volunteer with the College of Optometrists of Ontario continuously from 2012 to 2021. She has also been active in the community, speaking to family doctors and other health care providers about the benefits and importance of regular eye care. Earlier in her career, Dr. Soucy participated in three charitable eye care clinics abroad – in the Philippines in 2012, in Kenya in 2015, and in India in 2018. 

Dr. Soucy was born and raised in Ottawa, and she especially enjoys tap dancing and spending time with her husband and two children outdoors. 

A Note of Gratitude

After 45 years as an optometrist, I have recently made the decision to retire from practice. As I look back, I am filled with an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the privilege of caring for so many wonderful patients over the years.

I began this practice in 1983, never imagining the many friendships, memories, and connections that would become such an important part of my professional life. Many of you have been with the practice for 20, 30 or even 40+ years. I have had the particular joy of watching your families grow and caring for subsequent generations. You were never simply names on a chart – you were people and families whom I came to know and care about. It has been a privilege to be welcomed into your lives, and I am deeply thankful for the trust you placed in me and in our practice.

In 2013, I was fortunate to welcome Dr. Patrick Ladage into the practice and subsequently as a partner in 2015. Patrick has proven to be a very skilled and compassionate optometrist…the camaraderie that has developed between us over the years, I believe, is unparalleled.  Together, along with our dedicated staff, we have worked to provide the thoughtful, personal care that has always been at the heart of this office. I am immensely grateful to Patrick and to every member of our staff for their friendship, commitment, and support throughout the years.

Although I am retiring, I am very pleased to know that my patients will continue to be in excellent hands. I am especially grateful to welcome Dr. Annie Soucy, who will be caring for many of my patients moving forward. She is experienced, gifted, and compassionate. I have every confidence that she will carry on the tradition of care that has meant so much to me and to this practice.

To all of my patients, past and present: thank you. Thank you for your trust, your kindness, and the many years you allowed me to be part of your lives. It has been an extraordinary privilege and one of the great joys of my life.

I leave with an enormous sense of gratitude, many wonderful memories and with tremendous appreciation/affection for the patients, families, colleagues, staff, and friends who have been such a blessing to me over my career.

Dr. Albert DeVries

Louise has been a familiar face at the practice since 2009. In her role as senior office coordinator, she manages administrative duties and ensures the office runs smoothly. Louise enjoys forming good relationships with our patients and uses her experience to determine their needs. Louise is skilled at helping patients select frames and fitting their glasses. She also provides instruction to our new contact lens wearers. 

In her spare time, Louise works as a professional artist and enjoys spending time with her family.

Leanne has been a valued member of our City View Optometry team since 2020. She began her journey at the front desk, where she enjoyed getting to know patients and being part of their experience at the clinic. She has since grown into her current role as an Optometric assistant. You often find Leanne in the pretesting room, assisting with visual field testing, or helping the doctors with various imaging and other tasks. She enjoys the hands-on nature of her role and being able to support both the patients and the doctors throughout their visits.

Outside of the office, Leanne loves spending time with her family, singing with her worship team at church, and pursuing her love for photography. She enjoys capturing special moments through her photography and cherishes time spent with the people she loves.
