From November 14 to 16, OSI Group hosted its highly anticipated National Summit at White Oaks Resort & Spa in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

The Summit opened with a charity wine-pairing event, which successfully raised $10,000 in support of the University of Waterloo’s Seeing Beyond 20/20 campaign. The donation was accepted on behalf of the WEI, by Lisa Maxwell, president of the University of Waterloo Advancement of Independent Optometry Club (UWAIOC).

Throughout the weekend, independent practice owners, optometrists, opticians, managers, clinic staff, and future optometrists from across the country took part in a rich program of training and continuing education. The opening conference was delivered by international keynote speaker Michel Falcon, followed by a variety of sessions led by numerous OSI peers, including: Drs. Lauren Tabone, Christina Schropp, David Ng, Patrick Simard, Christine Yeung, and Harbir Sian. Attendees also had the opportunity to discover the latest advancements in eyecare and eyewear at the OSI Expo tradeshow, where over 52 suppliers showcased their innovations.

On Saturday evening, guests stepped into A Night of Winter Wonders, a gala dinner where eight clinics were recognized with the OSI Group Excellence Award across four categories. The celebration was elevated by a performance from Toronto native and Golden Buzzer recipient Roberta Battaglia.

The Summit concluded on Sunday with impactful training sessions by Optosys, including strategies to optimize time and master inventory management. Members also learned about the upcoming 2026 eyewear trends with eyewear image expert Wendy Buchanan. The event wrapped up with an inspiring closing conference by Nancy Dewald on navigating generational differences in the workplace.

“I am impressed with how productive and fun this weekend is. It is convenient to have everything in one

location, with rich content sessions, networking opportunities, and top-notch entertainment. It is perfect for team building with my staff.” said Dr. Dallas Wagner of For Sight Vision Centre in Brooks, Alberta.

Looking ahead to 2026, OSI Group remains devoted to inspiring and supporting its members as they continue to elevate independent optometric care. The next OSI National Summit will be held in October 2026, at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver in British Columbia.
