Spotlight of the month: FOCAL POINT IN MORDEN, MANITOBA

This full-scope practice was established in 1970 and they have been OSI members since 1985. What started as a small two staff practice with one exam lane has now evolved in to a 7 doctor, 10 exam lane, 40 staff practice with a satellite location in carman, manitoba.

Current owners Dr. Jessica Lautenschlager and Dr. Tio Bellisario are continually seeing the rewarding benefits of being OSI Members. Notably they are very happy with the CE hours presented both in-house by their Regional Account Manager and special guest presenters such as Jeff Mowatt during OSI’s National Summit in Lake Louise. They loved his presentation so much that they hired him to come speak to their entire staff.

As a clinic they have a variety of areas they focus on, one being technology. They were one of the first clinics in Manitoba to have an OCT and are the only clinic with a Multispectral Imaging Camera. They also believe in focusing on and investing in their staff. They currently use OSI’s Expand Your Eye Q program to onboard all new employees giving them a strong base in optical terminology and a complete overview of optometry. Recently they have also put several staff members through OSI’s Leadership and Management Program. One of the graduates, Susan Doell, has applied many of the skills learned through the program to benefit the practice.
