SWIFT CURRENT VISION CARE IN SASKATCHEWAN HAS BEEN SERVING AREA RESIDENTS SINCE 1999
Following the merger of their 3 solo practices, Drs. Larry Selvig, David Holmes and Craig Menzies decided to come together to create one large practice.
Dr. Craig Menzies’ love of optometry was passed down from his father whom he bought his practice from. His daughter, Dr. Samantha Chapman, also follows in the family footsteps as an optometrist in Ontario. In 2010, Drs. Heath & Tricia Holiday joined Dr. Menzies. Dr. Becky Lawn joined the practice in 2015. With a staff of 17, Swift Current Vision Care now has 2 licensed opticians, 8 certified optometric assistants (CCOA) and 4 staff who are currently taking the CCOA course.
A comprehensive full-service practice
Swift Current Vision Care is a comprehensive full-service practice with 4 exam lanes, an Optomap, OCT, FDT, Humphrey Field Analyzer and a retinal camera.
Many patients travel long distances to be seen at the clinic. As such, the clinic focuses on offering and delivering products in a timely manner by keeping a large inventory of single vision ophthalmic lenses, monthly and one-day contact lenses, eye drops and contact lens solutions on-hand. Since the clinic has four optometrists, each optometrist has their own area of expertise including dry eye management and pediatric vision care including vision therapy and visual perceptual evaluations.
The practice has benefitted greatly from the private labels available and special pricing with Hoya. Two of the owners have taken the Leadership & Management program offered by OSI Group and have found it quite beneficial. The clinic staff recently completed the Expand Your Eye-Q program and look forward to implementing it when new hires arrive.
OSI National Summit: a great experience
In 2017, Swift Current Vision Care attended the OSI National Summit in Lake Louise. “The National Summit was a great opportunity to meet fellow OSI Group Members and get an update on all the OSI Group programs, attend the tradeshow and learn from some incredible speakers. The Summit was very well organized and enjoyable for all.” Dr. Menzies also attended the Niagara National Summit and is looking forward to upcoming Summits and Seminars offered to Members.
Swift Current Vision Care is a great example of how eyecare professionals come together as one to offer a wide range of services and top-notch care to their patients.
